Description Vespa Tour Rome

Don’t be fooled by the name, “Castelli Romani” is the designation used for the 13 towns that rise in the Alban Hills, the wreckage of a volcano formed 630,000 years ago.
A favorite vacation spot for the Romans since the Empire, today it is still a cool oasis on scorching summer days, thanks to its strategic location just a few kilometers from the city center.

The tour begins with a visit to the remains of ancient Tusculum, whose legend has it that it was founded by Telemachus, son of Ulysses, four centuries before the founding of Rome.
Here the view encompasses all of Rome down to the sea; the air is cooler and the humidity favors lush vegetation, part of a protected park rich in chestnut trees and butterflies, in which are hidden the many villages with their medieval castles overlooking the lake or Renaissance villas with scenic gardens such as Villa Aldobrandini, built in the 16th century and whose splendid façade dominates Frascati.

Nearby stands the Greek Abbey of St. Nilus, founded in 1004 and today the last of the many Byzantine monasteries that in the Middle Ages were widespread throughout southern Italy and Rome itself.
This abbey is still a Byzantine-Greek place of worship: it observes the Eastern monastic tradition of its origins but in communion with the Catholic Church because the monastery was founded half a century before the schism.

The tour continues to Nemi, a medieval town that overlooks the small volcanic lake that takes its very name.
The town retains a medieval appearance although its origins date back to the Latins who considered it a sacred place because of the Temple of Diana Nemorense that stood there.
Nemi is a magical village in which low houses form hidden alleys and labyrinths.

There is an old tradition of unearthing the best delicacies from various local producers and then tasting them in a fraschetta where you only pay for the cover charge and wine.
Among the most sought-after products are Porchetta di Ariccia, bread from Genzano with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, Roman mortadella, Pecorino Romano, and, of course, wine from the Castelli!

This tour will show you a true Roman paradise.
Relax behind an experienced vespista and capture the most beautiful views with your own eyes, enjoy real Roman cuisine and taste the white wine produced by local wineries.
Our guides will tell you stories and legends related to these places, turning the tour into a unique experience.

The tour is available in three options: on a Vespa with a professional driver, driving an automatic Vespa alone or with a passenger behind.
If you are an expert scooter driver, you can enjoy the tour even if you drive for several hours and on busy roads, you can drive yourself. In this case you cannot drink alcohol. The price remains the same but you are responsible for insurance purposes for any damage to the vehicles (third party insurance). For this reason we will have to make a photocopy of your driving license and take your credit card details as a guarantee for the Vespa. You can also take a passenger behind you.
